FEKETE, IRVIN JERRY SR.
Irvin Jerry Fekete Sr. died on Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, at North Oaks Medical 
Center, Hammond. He was a retired teacher, coach and assistant principal of 
Springfield High School. He was 65, a native of Logan, W.Va., and a resident of 
Albany. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Hutchinson Fekete; a son, Jerry 
Fekete, Bowling Green, Ky.; a daughter, Stephanie Fekete, Basel, Switzerland; 
two sisters, Helen Nyeki, Albany, and Theresa Tennison, Angleton, Texas; two 
brothers, E.J. Fekete, Gonzales, and Julius Fekete, Tickfaw; and mother-in-law, 
Barney Mae Watkins Hutchinson, Albany. Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph 
and Theresa Nagy Fekete; three sisters, Elizabeth Wilburn, Irene Hager and 
Eleanor Beregi; and three brothers, Joe, Alex and Frank Fekete. Mr. Fekete was a 
graduate of Albany High School, class of 1956. He played basketball at Co-Lin 
Junior College, Wesson, Miss., in 1957 and 1958, and was a graduate of 
Southeastern Louisiana University. He was an external assessor for the 
Livingston Parish School System and a supervisor for the Capital Soil and Water 
Conservation District. Visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, 
Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and after 8 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, 
2003, until funeral home chapel service at 11 a.m. Interment in Hungarian 
Presbyterian Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorials to 
Irvin Jerry Fekete Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 232, Albany, LA 70711.
