Thompson Funeral Home, Hammond, LA FERINA, JAKE Jake Ferina (May 29, 1933 - June 24, 2013), age 80 and a resident of Tickfaw, Jake passed away on Monday, June 24, 2013 at his residence. He served our country in the U.S. Army, during the Korean War. Jake loved growing strawberries, making homemade wine and making Italian sausage. Jake leaves behind his daughter, Rosemary Ferina Wynn and husband Greg; son, Joseph Ferina and wife B.J., along with his grandchildren, Lindsey and Noah Ferina. He is also survived by his nephew, Michael Campise. Preceding Jake in death were his parents, Joseph and Mary Ferina and his sister, Josephine Campise. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church on Thursday, June 27, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 3:00 p.m. Fr. Jamin David will celebrate the Mass and entombment will follow in Colonial Mausoleum. She was a native of Independence. She is survived by one son, Jake Ferina of Chicago; two daughters, Josephine and Leona Aguado, both of Independence; three brothers, Pete Fazzio of Chicago, Joseph Fazzio of Hammond and Frank Fazzio of Boise, Idaho; one sister, Mary Maniglia of San Jose, Calif.; five grand- children and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Buster Ferina; two brothers, Sam and Charlie Fazzio; and two sisters, Katie Cavataio and Josephine Rotoko. Visitation will be today at Geisler Funeral Home, Hammond, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until the funeral at 11.
