He was 79. A native of Ponchatoula, he had served with the U.S. Coast Guard in World War II and was a member of Ponchatoula American Legion and of Springfield AM Vets post. He had retired as chief engineer with Brown and Root and as a barber in Ponchatoula. His wife, Ruth "Annie" Jones Ferrant, and children, Lynn Rene Ferrant Martin, Eugene Jacob "Buck" Ferrant and Rodney Thomas Ferrant, all reside in Ponchatoula, as does his sister, Lucille Ferrant Charbonnet. Survivors also include two brothers, Paul Ferrant of Zowle and Ernest Ferrant of Fort Worth, Texas, and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Ellsie Perrin Ferrant; a sister, Ethel Clark; and two brothers, Alvin and Bernard Ferrant. Visitation will be at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, tonight from 6 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. until the Rev. Charles Bigner and the Rev. Paul Ferrant conduct the funeral at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Ponchatoula Cemetery. ******************************************************************************** Obituary published in The Advocate (Baton Rouge): 5/13/2005 FERRANT, RODNEY THOMAS A resident and native of Ponchatoula, he died Tuesday, May 10, 2005, at his home. He was 53. Visitation at Harry McKneely & Son, Ponchatoula, on Friday, May 13, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on Saturday in the chapel from 8 a.m. until religious service at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Charles Bigner. Interment in Ponchatoula Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Lynn Gaude Ferrant of Ponchatoula; daughter and son-in-law, Amanda F. and Fred "Duke" Wichers of Ponchatoula; son and daughter-in-law, Eugene "Gene" T. II and Angela Ferrant of Covington; mother, Annie J. Ferrant of Ponchatoula; and sister, Rene F. Martin of Ponchatoula. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene T.
