Thorny was born April 23, 1920, in his beloved lifelong hometown of Fluker. He is survived by four daughters, Betty Ray Field of Baton Rouge, Donna Lee Field Mixon of Pensacola, Fla., and Judy Lynn Field Crawford and Patsy Kay Field Turner of Hammond; a sister, Sue Field Hood of Hammond; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Magruder Field; a brother, Richard Kent Field; a granddaughter, Caroline Field Mixon; and his parents, Thomas Preston and Louise Kent Field. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Service at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial in Amite Cemetery.
