She was 81 and a native of Tensaw, Ala. Visiting at McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, 11 a.m. Wednesday until religious services at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Fred Moore. Interment in Woodland Cemetery. Survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Carleen F. and Paul G. Bitter, Baton Rouge, and Mary F. and Ronnie Schmalz, New Orleans; eight grandchildren, Teri B. Thomas, Kelley Gingles, Kara B. Goudeau, Chuck Schmalz, Wendy Wiegel, Donald C. Bitter, Paul G. Bitter Jr. and Willie M. Broome Jr.; and 12 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband, Carl Q. Firth; two daughters, Arleen F. Broome and an infant daughter; and a son, Ted O. Firth. She was a member of Kentwood United Methodist Church and Ira Chapter No. 84 of Order of the Eastern Star. **************************************************************************
