A resident of Kentwood, he died at 1:55 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002, at Heritage Manor, Hammond. He was 69 and a native of Smith County, Texas. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from noon until religious service at 2 p.m. Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. Starrett Cleveland. Interment in Sand Hill Cemetery, Ponchatoula. Survived by his wife, Helen Manuel Fitch, Tucson, Ariz.; a daughter, Althea Fitch Lacey, Gainesville, Ga.; four sons, Johnnie Fitch and the Rev. Dennis Fitch, both of Tucson, Keith Fitch, Rockville, Md., and Michael Fitch, Newport News, Va.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; four sisters, Erma Fowler, Hammond, Norma Ricci, Battle Ground, Wash., Sarah Fitch Reed, Ponchatoula, and Jessie Lois Richard, Opelousas; two brothers, Paul Ray Fitch, Alturas, Calif., and Patrick Kenneth Fitch, Baton Rouge; and numerous nieces and nephews.
