George Chris (Pete) Fitzgerald Jr., 77 years old of Loranger, Louisiana, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at his residence. Pete was born on Sunday, March 22, 1936, in Covington. Surviving are wife, Stacy Maes Fitzgerald, daughter, Lindy Simmons, sons & daughters-in-law, Cody and Lisa Fitzgerald, Rowdy and Shawn Fitzgerald, Justin and Michelle Fitzgerald, son, Lance Fitzgerald, a son in his heart, Chad and his wife Mindy Holmes, step-daughter, Carie Edwards, step-son, Caleb Edwards, sisters, Anne Seal, Jeanine Broderick and Verne Floyd, the mother of his children, Annie Fitzgerald, grandchildren, Bodi, Charlee, Brannix, Laramie, Chance, Dakota, Bonner, Jansen, Garrett, Brennan, Kelsey, Kaleigh, Dixie, Montana, Madison, Wyatt, Morgan and Chloe, also survived by 11 great-grandchildren. She was a homemaker. Survivors include a daughter, JoAnn Roth, Slaughter; six sons, Larry James and Robert Lee Fitzgerald, Marksville, William Joseph Fitzgerald, Livonia, Lionel Ray and Bernell Gene Fitzgerald, Albany, John Eddie Fitzgerald, Mansura; 18 grand-children, 22 great-grandchildren and a great-great- grandchild. Five sisters, Mary, Alberta, Josephine, Lee Hester and Wilda; and two brothers, Nester and John Ed Guillory, preceded her in death. Visitation will be at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home, Opelousas, tonight from 5 to 10 with recitation of the rosary at 6:30 and Tuesday from 8 a.m. until the funeral at 10 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Port Barre. She was 78 and a native of Robert. She died on June 16, 2007 as a result of an automobile accident. She was seven years, eigth months and six days old at the time of her death. She had two homes and resided in both Hammond, Lousiiana and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was proudly going into the second grade and was studying to be a veterianarian at the tiime of her death. She loved all animals, especially cats. She was survived by her mother, Michelle Clark, whom she loved very much, and Her father, Michael William Fitzgerald, Jr., whom she loved very much, and brother and sister, including her seven- month-old brother, Gavin Drake Clarke, whom she loved and cared for since his birth. She was survived by her maternal grandparents, Linda Kay Sewell and Bryon Clarke, and her maternal aunt and uncle Jody and Bobby Huffman. Lauren was survived by her paternal grandparents Michael and Adele Fitzgerald, a maternal aunt and uncle, Karen and Brad Bradford, and their children, and an aunt and grand uncle, with whom she resided in Baton Rouge, Louisiana half of the time, Sandra Fitzgerald, who loved her more than anyone else, and Dennis S. Fitzgerald, who feels that Lauren is his girl; Sandra's children, Amanda Pendarvis, who was her best friend, without a doubt, and who misses her dearly, and Justin Pendarvis and his wife Kara Pendarvis, who loved her as on of their own children; and their children, three year old Jordan and two year old Lainey, who knew her as Ya'Ya', and who lost their best friend. They were inseparable when they were together. She was also survived by the full array of grandparents, siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, pets, neighbors, friends, teachers, classmates and all who knew her. She will surely be remembered in life as someone who has touched everyone's heart with love and freely gave her love in return to all who cared for her; and, in death, she has broken the heart of everyone who knew her. It will never be the same without her. It is prayed that her beautiful soul will find a special place in God's heart, and which will surely increase God's love for all of us. She was a member of Maranatha Church of God. Special thanks go to the oncology staff at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet and special thanks are given to Dr. Chandra and the very loving social worker, Shelley Winty. Ruby was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law and aunt who will be greatly missed. She was a very strong Christian who loved the Lord with all of her heart and soul and praised him daily. Ruby was a great help to her daughter and son-in-law while they were raising her grandchildren, Amber and Gannon Champagne. She had a large part in the successes of her grandchildren's lives.
