He was 86, a native of Amite County, Miss., and a U.S. Army Military Police veteran who served in World War II. He was honorably discharged on May 6, 1947. Family visitation at Calvary Baptist Church in Denham Springs on Monday, April 13, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., with public visitation from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Religious service at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Gloster, Miss., on Tuesday, April 14, at 1 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Charles Foreman. Survived by his wife of 58 years, Peggy Piper Foreman; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sharon and Roy Lavergne, of Addis, Jerry and Herbert Landry, of Denham Springs, and Pamela Warner, of Walker; a son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Sheila Foreman; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Interment in Black Creek Church Cemetery. Survived by a brother, Hillery Tillis, Greensburg; two sisters, Birda Mae Gordon, Greensburg, and Mildred Berry Carter, New Orleans; and other relatives and friends.
