She was born in Spring Creek and lived the majority of her life in the Montpelier community. She was a retired file clerk/receptionist for the Louisiana Department of Public Welfare in Amite. Prior to that, she was an employee of B. Stern Co. in Amite. She was a graduate of Amite High School and attended LSU. Mrs. Forshag was a member of the First Baptist Church in Amite, Campers on Missions and a member of the Eastern Star. Survivors include a son, John H. Forshag, Luling; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Maronge Forshag; a grandson, Mark E. Forshag, Luling; granddaughter, Phoebe Forshag Landry, Denham Springs; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harmon Earl Forshag; her parents, James Newton McDaniel and Ernestine Boyd McDaniel; and two brothers, Alton George McDaniel and Ira Hines McDaniel. Visitation will be at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, Monday, Sept. 12, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Religious service will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 10 a.m. Interment in the Mulberry Street Cemetery in Amite. ******************************************************************************** Obituary published in The Advocate (Baton Rouge) on: 11/20/2010 FORSHAG, E. NORWOOD He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. A resident of Amite, he died at 3:15 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, at Specialty LTCH in Hammond. He was 80, born Nov. 24, 1929, in Amite. He was a graduate of Amite High School, where he excelled on the football field, and was a former communications staff sergeant in the Louisiana Army National Guard. Mr. Forshag was a skilled craftsman in construction, carpentry and blacksmithing and passed his love of the outdoors to his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Elizabertha "Liz" Miller Forshag, Amite; son, Col. Russell Forshag, U.S. Army (Ret.) and his wife, Sandie, Amite; four daughters, Gay New and her husband, Charlie, Amite, Connie Guzzardo and her husband, David, Youngsville, Diana Petitto and her husband, Anthony "Possum," Amite, and Ann Stevens and her husband, Brent, Montpelier; 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and a brother, C.H. "Toby" Forshag and his wife, Betty, Central. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Presley Forshag and Ione Norwood Forshag. He was born in Amite and lived the majority of his life in the community of Montpelier. He was a retired business manager of Hood Oil Co., Amite. Prior to that, he worked for Hood Motor Co., Brumfield Motor Co. and the Louisiana High-way Depart-ment. He was a graduate of Montpelier High School, a member and a deacon of the First Baptist Church, Amite, a member of the Louisiana Campers on Missions and a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp. Survivors include his wife, Anna Mae McDaniel Forshag, Montpelier; a son, John Harmon Forshag, Luling; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Maronge Forshag, Luling; a grandson, Mark E.
