Donald J. Forsyth Jr. was born July 12, 1964, and passed away at 5:55 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at home. He was 45, a native of Lutcher and resident of Amite. Donald is survived by his wife, Charlotte Whitener Forsyth, Amite; a son, Skylar Singleton, Amite; mother, Mary Grace Forsyth, Gonzales; two sisters, Cindy Melancon, her husband, Jeff, and their children, Jordan and Brooke, Gonzales, and Melanie Schexnaydre, her husband, Charles, and their children, Lauren and Alex, Prairieville; mother and father-in-law, Wilson "Dub" and Gail Whitener, Amite; sister-in-law, Lisa Carruth, her husband, Danny, and their son, Landon, Greensburg; godchildren, Landon Murphy, Lauren Schexnaydre, Brooke Melancon and Casey Waguespack; godmother, Julie Cambre, Luling; godfather, Vinzule Bourgeois Jr., LaPlace; and beloved pets, Harley and Tib. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald J. Forsyth Sr.; paternal grandparents, Armaize and Godfrey Forsyth; and maternal grandparents, Grace and Vinzule Bourgeois Sr. Donald was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He worked as a driver for SAIA Motor Freight for 22 years. Visitation at McKneely & Vaughn Funeral Home, Amite, Saturday, April 10, from 10 a.m. until religious services at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Darryl Miller officiating. Interment in Hillsdale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Skyler Singleton, Charles Schexnaydre, Jeff Melancon, Landon Murphy, Al Glover, Russ Jenkins, Danny Carruth, Brian Kirkland and David Kirkland. "DON" Donald J. Forsyth Sr. was born May 22, 1937, in Paulina, and was a resident of Gonzales. He retired from (Freeport McMoran) I.M.C. Agrico in Uncle Sam and served in the U.S. Army in Germany, having received a Sharpshooter Medal and Gun Specialist Medal. A full-time cattleman, he left this world at 5:15 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006, to be with his heavenly Father at his big ranch in the sky. Visiting at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, on Thursday, Oct. 5, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting at St. Mark Catholic Church, Gonzales, on Friday from 8 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Joel LaBauve, celebrant. Interment in St. Theresa Catholic Church Cemetery, Gonzales. He is survived by his wife, Mary Grace Bourgeois Forsyth; son, Donald J. "T-Pop" Forsyth Jr., his wife, Charlotte, and their son, Skylar, all of Amite; and two daughters, Cindy, her husband, Jeff Melancon, and their children, Brooke and Jordan, all of Gonzales, and Melanie and her husband, Charlie Schexnayder, and their two children, Lauren and Alex, all of Prairieville. He is also survived by his mother, Armaize Waguespack Forsyth, Paulina; four sisters, Mary Dell Guidry, Diane Becnel, Julie Cambre and Shirley Duhon; two brothers, Carrol Forsyth and Wayne Forsyth; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Preceded in death by his father, Godfrey Joseph Forsyth. Pallbearers will be Chris Lambert, Charles Schexnaydre, Jeff Melancon, Jerry Lambert, Donald J. Forsyth Jr. and Jody Waguespack. He very much enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, going to the stock yards, driving one of his many tractors, tending to his cattle, going to state auctions, raising baby calves and walking at the mall.
