She died in her home in Gueydan, La., at the age of 64 after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born Marcia Dianne Allen in Alexandria, Louisiana on January 9, 1948. She attended Jena Elementary School, Jena High School, Morgan City High School and Nichols State College. She later married William D. Compton Sr. and resided in Houston, Tx. She owned her own successful cleaning business called Flopsee Mopsee Cleaning Service and later went on to work at American Leak Detection Service as the office manager. Marcia enjoyed times with her family, but Thanksgiving was her favorite time of year. She liked decorating, gardening and fishing, but most of all taking care of her husband Mike. All of their family and friends know of the deep love they shared for one another. She was active in the community serving on the board for the Welcome House and the Opera House in Crowley, as well as the Jena High School Alumni Board. She is survived by her husband Mike "Bugs" Francis; one daughter Dr. Leigh Anne Compton and her husband Dr. Nathan Mundell of Boston, Mass.; one son, William D. Compton Jr. of Houston and his daughters Jessica, Alyssa and Bethany. Her mother; Melba Allen of Baton Rouge; and two sisters Glenda Guffey and her husband Gene of Baton Rouge and Ann Laborde and her husband Glenn of Hammond, La. Their children Gene Guffey and his wife Peyton, Greg Guffey and his wife Chrystal and Daniel Laborde and his wife Tara and their daughter Glynis. She was preceded in death by her father Fletcher Russell Allen; her brother Fletcher Milton Allen; her maternal grandparents Coy and Ethel Crews Doughty of Jena and her first husband William D. Compton Sr. The family would like to especially thank Dr. Mulraj Katira of Crowley, the staff of MD Anderson in Houston, American Legion Hospital in Crowley and Hospice of Acadiana. Memorial contributions can be made in Marcia's name to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street, Lafayette, LA 70503. It was her wish that this service be a casual memorial to celebrate her life rather than mourn her passing. She will be sadly missed by her husband, family and friends, but more than that she will be remembered very lovingly and fondly by all of them. The services will be officiated by Reverend Mike Walker of East Bayou Baptist Church at 2234 Kaliste Saloom Road, Lafayette, LA 70508. ******************************************************************************** File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/la/tangipahoa/obits/obitssur/francis.txt
