She was born Monday, April 21, 1919, in Highbank, Texas, the daughter of the late Jack Carona and the late Mary Strange Carona. She was a founding member of the Independence Italian-American Cultural Association. She retired from Chehardy's in Independence with 25 years of service. Surviving are two daughters, Mary Fresina Misuraca of Port Allen and Judy Fresina Jones of Baton Rouge; two sons-in-law, Michael T. Misuraca and Tommy Jones; seven grandchildren, Vince Roubique, Robert Roubique, Mike Misuraca II, Victoria Millet, Vincel Simpson, Myra Black and Kristen Jacobs; and 12 great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent John Fresina; daughter, Phyne Ann Roubique, and son-in-law, Angelo Roubique; granddaughter, Marilyn Ann Roubique; two brothers and seven sisters. Friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, on Sunday, Jan. 28, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Monday from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, Independence, on Monday at 10:30 a.m., with the Very Rev. He was a kind and gentle man. After his retirement as a machinist at Exxon, he along with his beloved wife, Gloria spent many hours in his woodworking shop making beautiful wooden toys which he shared with his family and friends. Tony was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother who will be missed dearly by all that knew him. He is survived by four children, Michael C. Fresina and wife Alice, Anthony V. Fresina, Gloria Jean "Jeannie" Langlois and husband Larry, all of Baton Rouge, and Annette "Annie" Spicer and husband Greg of Lake Charles. Tony was blessed with five granddaughters, Marie Langlois of Charleston, SC, Claire Langlois, Katherine Fresina, Frances Fresina, all of Baton Rouge, and Elaine Rider of Lake Charles; a step grandson, Nick Spicer of Lake Charles;. Tony is also survived by his sister, Josephine "Phyne" Costanza and spouse Sam of Independence, LA. He is preceded in death by the love of his life, Gloria Carstens Fresina; two brothers; and one sister.
