He was a longtime resident of Hammond. He is survived by his wife, Janet H. Friar; two daughters Lisa Fryar Elam of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Machelle McGaha of Corinth, Miss.; three sons, Reginald Fryar and MacArthur Fryar Jr., both of Booneville, and Avery Fryar of Ponchatoula; his mother, Belle Gora of Booneville, Miss.; five sisters, Julie M. Rambo of Detroit, Mary L. and Shirley Friar, both of Booneville, Evelyn Friar of Baton Rouge and Janet Chandler of Los Angeles; seven brothers, Eugene Friar of Huntsville, Ala., John, Willie, William, Robert and Freddie Friar, all of Booneville, and Larry Friar of Dyersburg, Tenn.; and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Friar; and one sister, Mary Ann Ponder. Burial was Aug. 10 at Wolf Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Booneville, Miss. Springfield Chapel Funeral Home, Corinth, Miss., was in charge. ********************************************************************************
