Albany - Alex J. Galladora, a decorated World War II veteran and longtime employee of Geisler Funeral Home, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001, at his home. The 81-year-old native of New Orleans had recently and retired from Geisler Funeral Home after 14 years of service. Galladora served in the U.S. Army during World War II where he earned two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Medal. He was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church, the AmVets, the American Legion Knights of Columbus, the Young At Heart, Hungarian Heritage and Hungarian Culture organizations. He is survived by his wife, Helen Galladora of Albany; two sons, Jimmy and Bobby Galladora, both of Albany; one daughter, Alice Martina of Baton Rouge; one brother, Johnny Galladora of Arizona; one sister, Josie Mocsary of Albany; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Virginia Galladora; two brothers, Fred and Joe Galladora; and two sisters, Francis Winslow and Antoinette Marshall.
