B. Livingston -- A.B. Galloway died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, at Louisiana State University Medical Center, Bogalusa. He was a native of Angie and a member of St. Mary Baptist Church, Livingston, where he served as a deacon. Survivors include a son, Theodore Galloway of Gary, Ind.; two sisters, Jessie Mae Magee of Angie and Ora Lee Peters of Hammond; two brothers, Marshall Peters of Moss Point, Miss., and James Ray Peters of Tylertown, Miss.; four grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Galloway; his mother, Julia Peters; his father, Henry Galloway; his stepfather, Jessie Peters; two sisters, Cathaline Mingo and Alice Peters; seven brothers, Ira, Willie D., Roscoe, Walter, Alec, Ozell and Hollis; one grandchild and one great-grandchild. Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 7 p.m. at Cook Richmond Funeral Home, Bogalusa. The Rev. She was born on Saturday, Oct. 16, 1920, in Franklin, daughter of the late Herman Dennis and Gladys Bourgeois Himel. Mrs. Galloway was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church and numerous civic and social organizations including past director of the local chapters of the American Cancer Society and Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She was a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University, class of 1941. She enjoyed literature, music, dancing and entertaining and was a former English teacher. Surviving are her two daughters and sons-in-law, Noel Lynn G. and William E. Wade, and Sheryl G. and Clyde A. St. Amand; son and daughter- in-law, Thomas A. "Tag" and Marilyn F. Galloway; three grandchildren, W. Galen Wade, Sara E. Rifkin, Carlye M. Galloway; two great-grandchildren, M. Olivia Wade and Charlotte B. Wade; two brothers, Edmond Ray Himel, James M. Himel; and two sisters, Dorothy H. Koen and Patricia H. Newsham. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Stanley N. Galloway; grandson, John N. Wade; sister, Cora Mae H. Kuykendahl; and two brothers, H.D. Himel Jr. and Walter L. Himel. Friends will be received at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Hammond on Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 9 a.m. until the Mass at 10:30 a.m. Entombment will follow in Greenlawn Mausoleum in Hammond. "Margie" will be missed by her large extended family and many friends. Her courage, graciousness and charm were shared with all who knew her. He was a graduate of Lyon High School in Covington and Southeastern Louisiana University. He had been a teacher, football coach, athletic commissioner and former owner of Mitey Muffler of Hammond. He had been head coach at Donaldsonville High School, Hammond High School, Bogalusa High School and Southeastern Louisiana University. He was selected by the U.S. Air Force to conducted football clinics in Wiesbaden, Germany, in 1962, and in 1963 he was sent to Honolulu, Tokyo, Wake Island and Korea to conduct football clinics. He was commissioner of Louisiana state colleges and universities, the gulf states conferences, and helped form and was commissioner of the Gulf States Conference. He was elected to the Louisiana Sportswriters Association Hall of Fame, National Football Foundation Hall of Fame, Louisiana High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame and Southeastern Louisiana University Hall of Fame.
