He was born Friday, February 27, 1953, in New Orleans, Louisiana, son of the late James Griffin and Dorothy Schwecke Gantt. He was a retired fireman for the City of New Orleans. Surviving are his wife, Charlene May Gantt; son, Jonathan Edward Gantt; sister, Diane G. Rossi; brother-in-law, Ronnie Rossi; stepmother, Dell Gantt; and three nieces and nephews. Stepbrother, "Butch" Hollabaugh, preceded him in death. Friends will be received on Friday, October 6, 2006, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. and on Saturday, October 7, 2006, after 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. at the Ponchatoula home of Harry McKneely & Son. Religious services will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel at 10 a.m. with Reverends Mark Lubbock and Jimmie Parker officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Memorial Park Cemetery, Hammond. She was born on March 7, 1922, in Grosse Tete. A former librarian for the Rosedale Library in Iberville Parish, Talma is survived by a daughter, Tanya Kilpatrick and companion Bruce Varnado, of Ponchatoula; three sons, Daniel Gantt, of Rosedale, Stephen Gantt, of Lakeland, and Kevin and wife Cynthia Gantt, of Rosedale; six grandchildren, Len Walker and wife Becky, Justin Jones, Lyndsey Gantt Hebert and husband Blake, Taylor Gantt, Candace Gantt and Darren Gantt; great-grandsons, Christian Gantt and Jack Walker; great-granddaughter, Cate McKenzie Hebert; two sisters, Elene Womax, of LaPlace, and Winnie Wackowitz, of Plano, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Wayne R. Gantt; father, George W. Booksh; and mother, Elma Granger Booksh. "Family" was everything to Talma. She loved life and lived it to the fullest, traveling the world over and spending a great deal of her time reading. Through the years, Talma loved to play bridge, Scrabble, work crossword puzzles, sew, paint and work in her flower beds. And what most will remember her for was her love and exceptional talent for cooking and entertaining. She was a lifelong and active member of First United Methodist Church, 15990 La. 77, Rosedale, where a celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 27, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., conducted by Jeremy Jones, pastor. Her remains have been donated to the Bureau of Anatomical Services for research.
