She was born Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1915, in Mobley, Ark., daughter of the late J.P. and Sarah James Rose. Surviving are three sons, Freddie Gardner of Greenwell Springs, Kenneth Gardner of Hammond, and Jerry Gardner of Ponchatoula; daughter, Rosemary Gardner of Ponchatoula; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and her brother, Pat Rose. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Sue Gardner; eight brothers and sisters, Wes, Ernest, Frank, J.P. Jr., Wilma, Dorothy, Una and Zora. Friends will be received Sunday, April 23, at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 25, at 2 p.m. at Ward Cemetery, Strawberry, Ark. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church in Ponchatoula. Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Richardson Funeral Home, Amite. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Mount Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, Arcola, conducted by the Rev. Lawrence Jackson Sr., followed by burial at Brown Quinn Cemetery, Tangipahoa. Survivors include his wife, Janice Fultz Gardner of Tangipahoa; seven sons, Shamus Gardner Sr., Shane Gardner Sr., Kellen and Kendal Gardner, Bruce King, Kendrick Fultz, and Mack Aaron Garett; one daughter, Shara Gardner; five sisters, Shirley Williams, Scharon Gordon, Cherry Miller, Frances Long and Cassandra Knox; his father, Sam Gardner Jr.; five grandchildren, Shane Jr., Shamus Jr., Keandre, Shamaya and Biaunka; aunt Mattie Conner Etheridge (William); and uncle, Ernest Conner Sr. ***************************************************************************
