He was 74 and a native of Bracketville, Texas. Visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday. Visitation at First United Methodist Church, Ponchatoula, from 8:30 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m. Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. Bob Deich. Interment in Sand Hill Cemetery. Survived by his wife, Angelina Flores Garza, Hammond; two daughters, Melba Garza, Hammond, and Mrs. Decuir (Nelda Garza) Hamilton, Baker; a son, Gerald Richard Garza, Hammond; a grandson, Jacob A. Garza, Baker; a sister, Ninfa Garza, San Antonio; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Emilio and Adelaide Casas Garza; a son, Sergio L. Garza; three sisters, Consuelo Lozano, Hortensia Montante and Margaret Ramos; and three brothers, Peter, Rudy and Gilbert Garza. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II and a retired master carpenter. ********************************************************************************
