ROMAIN Agnes St Romain Gates, 86 years old of Hammond, died Thursday, June 15, 2006 in North Oaks Medical Center. She was born Tuesday, July 15, 1919 in New Roads, Louisiana, daughter of the late Rosa Leece and Sedonia Guitreaux St. Romain. Surviving are her husband, Kelly Gates and daughter, Terry L. Gates; nine grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren & great-great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Myrl Jervis; daughter Linda Erwin Anders; sisters and brothers; and special friend, Fi Fi Gates. Burhman Qullen Gates Sr. passed away at 5 p.m. Monday, July 9, 2007, at his home, ending a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born in Ponchatoula on Sept. 4, 1933. He was 73 and a resident of Livingston. He was a very devoted and loving husband, dad and a fun Paw-Paw. He taught Sunday school and served as a deacon for many years. He was passionate about music and an avid gardener. He was a man of few words but always spoke the truth. He was retired from the Louisiana DOTD after 29ä years of service. Visitation at Satsuma Baptist Church, Livingston, was on Friday, July 13, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting resumes at the church on Saturday, July 14, from 8 a.m. until service at 11 a.m., conducted by Andrew Voss, pastor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Desrie and Ursula Gates; and two brothers, Henry and Randolph "Dotsy" Gates.
