PITTMAN Born May 27, 1921, in Portsmouth, Va., she was a longtime resident of Bogalusa and recently of Denham Springs. Edna passed away on Friday, Feb. 5, 2010, at 11 a.m. Edna was retired from Black and Adams CPAs and was a longtime member of Elizabeth Sullivan Memorial United Methodist Church and Jeans and Queens Square Dance Club. She is survived by a sister, Rose Pollard, of Harrisonburg, Va.; daughter, Theresa Zeller and husband Ernest, of Walker; son, Tom Pittman and wife Susan, of Denham Springs; brother-in- law, Jabus Pittman, of Bogalusa; stepchildren, Sheryl Joseph, of Hammond; Bill Gatzman of Laurel, Miss., Lynn Ruble, of Pensacola, Fla., and Margaret Jones, of Tickfaw; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by father, Edward H. Everton; mother, Ruth H. Everton; sisters, Nina Seager and Jean Dixon; and husbands, Thomas Doyle Pittman and Ralph L. Gatzman. Visitation at Pool-Ritchie Funeral Home, Bogalusa, will be on Monday, Feb. 8, from 10 a.m. until services at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in Ponemah Cemetery, Bogalusa. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to ESM United Methodist Church, Bogalusa, or a charity of choice. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff and caregivers at Harvest Manor Nursing Home of Denham Springs and Baton Rouge General Medical Center. *************************************************************************** Obituary published in The Hammond Daily Star on: 11/27/2004 GATZMAN, RALPH LEE Bogalusa -- Ralph Lee Gatzman, 81, died at his home in Bogalusa on Friday, Nov. 26, 2004. During World War II, he was captured by the Germans and held as a prisoner of war. He served in the Army Air Corps 8th Air Force as a Tech Sergeant. Gatzman was retired from the Bogalusa Papermill and was a member of the Annunciation Catholic Church and its Rosary Club. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, fourth degree. He was also a member of the Jeans & Queens square dance club. Gatzman volunteered as a Scout master for the Boy Scouts of America for 11 years. He is survived by his wife, Edna Gatzman; his son, Ralph "Bill" Gatzman of Laurel, Miss.; his three daughters, Lorenda Sheryl Joseph of Hammond; Phyliss Lynn Ruble of Pensacola, Fla.; Margaret "Margie" Jones of Tickfaw; his stepchildren, Tom Pittman of Denham Springs; Theresa Zeller of Walker; a brother, W.C. Gatzman of Bogalusa; 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Imogene Parker Gatzman; and his parents, William and Beulah Gatzman. Visitation was on Friday at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home. Father Lawrence Phelps conducted the funeral on Saturday.
