He was a retired carpenter with Carpenter's Local Union No. 1846 and a native of Hessmer. He was a World War II Army veteran who served with the 168th Infantry, decorated with the EAMETO Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Bronze Star Medal and the Distinguished Unit Badge. He was a former resident of both Avoyelles and Jefferson parishes. He is survived by his wife, Hazel Mary Gauthier; two daughters, Brenda A. and Ellen M. Gauthier; two brothers, T-Fred and Newman Gauthier; and a sister, Eyola G. Lucas; eight grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Gauthier and Valce Daigrepont Gauthier; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Gauthier; and three sisters, Ella, Lena and Muti Gauthier. Visitation will be today at Leitz- Eagan Funeral Home, Metairie, from 5 to 10 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. until Mass at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Restlawn Cemetery, Avondale. ******************************************************************************** Obituary published in The Hammond Daily Star on: 6/14/2007 GAUTHIER, RONALD RAY Mr. Ronald Ray Gauthier, 69-years-old of Hammond, died Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at his residence. He was born October 13, 1937 in Jennings, Louisiana, son of the late A.M. and Willie Wolf Gauthier. He was a member of the Independence Masonic Lodge # 458. Surviving are his wife, Betty Perry Gauthier and two sons, Todd and his wife Cindy Gauthier, Danny and his wife Lynne Gauthier; daughter, Michelle and her husband Darren Gillett; and five grandchildren, Keegan, Kody, Michael, Ian and Allie. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mona Kay Istre. Friends will be received Saturday, June 16, 2007 from 1:30 p.m. until the memorial service begins at 2:30 p.m. at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond. There will be a reception to follow at the American Legion Hall in Ponchatoula. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Hammond.
