Samuel J. Gennardo, 53, of Hammond, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, at North Oaks Medical Center. He was born Friday, Feb. 21, 1958, in Covington. Mr. Gennardo worked hard to provide for his family and, when not working, he loved to play golf and cook. Surviving are his wife, Peggy Scherer Gennardo; parents, Frances "Chickie" Muscarello and Vincent Gennardo; two sons, Chad Gennardo and Todd Gennardo; granddaughter, Sadie McCaffery; sister and brother-in-law, Patti and Collins Lanier; three nieces, Heather, Brooke and Anna Lanier; and numerous aunts, uncles, and additional nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Joseph and Annie Gennardo; and maternal grandparents, Frank and Evelyn Muscarello. Friends will be received at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Hammond on Friday, Oct. 28, from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at noon. Interment in Greenlawn Cemetery.
