He was a native of Natalbany and retired U.S. Marine gunnery sergeant. He was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He is survived by his wife, Wilton Roe Gersch of Hammond; one daughter, Gwen G. Bertone of Hammond; two sons, Joe Wayne Gersch of Independence and Glen Gersch of Spartanburg, S.C.; four grandchildren and four great-grand- children. He was preceded in death by one son, William "Bill" Gersch; his parents, one sister, Gwen Todt; three brothers, Bob Peterman, Charles Gersch and Charles Peterman. Visitation will be Friday at Geisler Funeral Home, Hammond, from 10 a.m. until the funeral at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery, Hammond. ******************************************************************************** Obituary published in The Advocate (Baton Rouge) on: 12/29/2010 GERSCH, WILTON ROE Wilton Roe Gersch was born on Aug. 6, 1925, in Hammond, and passed away at the age of 81 on Friday, Dec. 24, 2010, in Hammond. Survived by her daughter, Gwen Bertone, of Hammond; two sons, Joe Wayne Gersch, of Independence, and Glenn Gersch, of South Carolina; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Rollen Gersch; parents, William Roe and Nellie Sweeney Roe; and son, William "Bill" Gersch. Visitation was Monday, Dec. 27, at Geisler Funeral Home, Hammond, from 9 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m. Interment followed in Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
