She was 79. Visiting at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m. Monday. Entombment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory Mausoleum. Survived by her husband of 61 years, Peter J. Giaratano Sr.; a daughter, Pat G. Thomas; a son, P.J. Giaratano Jr. and wife Carol; a sister, Rose Datz; and two brothers, Joe and John Schittone, all of Baton Rouge; and four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be John Schittone Jr., Joe Eddie Schittone, Jack Datz Jr., Lee Burns, Trey Ashford and Marc Giaratano. She was a member of St. Louis King of France Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Grief Recovery Center of Baton Rouge or the Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge. Mary F. Giaratano, 88 years old and a resident of Tickfaw, died on Friday, Dec. 30, 2005, at her home. She was born on Tuesday, Dec. 25, 1917, in Tickfaw, daughter of the late Guy Arnone and Anatisia Sangroso Arnone. She was a seamstress for Valmy in Ponchatoula. Surviving are daughter, Nena F. Cittadino of Slidell; son, Salvadore R. Fillippello of Tickfaw; two sisters, Lena Hill of Chalmette and Jenny Gebbia of Metairie; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Russell Fillippello; second husband, Phillip Giaratano; three sisters, Josephine Guarino, Mamie Grismore and Rosie Arnone; and four brothers, Jack, Joe, John and Sam Arnone. Friends will be received at Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church in Tickfaw on Monday, Jan. 2, from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., celebrated by Dominican Fathers. "MR. PETE" Died at 12:10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center- Mid City. He was 82, a native of Tickfaw and a resident of Baton Rouge. Mr. Giaratano was a door greeter at Wal-Mart with more than 18 years of service and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Visiting at Hollabaugh-Spindle Funeral Home chapel from noon Sunday until religious service at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Gerald LeFebvre. Entombment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory Mausoleum with military honors. A memorial Mass will be held at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church at a time to be announced. He is survived by a daughter, Pat G. Thomas of Baton Rouge; a son, P.J. Giaratano Jr. and wife Carol of Baton Rouge; a sister, Catherine Baiamonte; four grandchildren, Kim Burns and husband Lee, Kristal Thomas, Rebecca Ashford and husband Trey and Marc Giaratano; and two great-grandchildren, Kyle Burns and Brock Ashford.
