Douglas John Gildig Sr., 67 years old of Amite, La., passed away, Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, at Hood Memorial Hospital. He was born on Sunday, March 11, 1945, in New Orleans, La., son of the late Russell Lewis Gildig Sr. and the late Estelina Gaude Gildig. He was retired and a member of the plumbers and steamfitters Local 60 organization. Surviving are daughter, Shannon Blackmon and husband Larry, son, Doug Gildig Jr. and wife Holly, sisters, Alana Beecher, Rosland Trahan, Sandy Collins, Kathy Tweety and Darlene Sterling, brothers, Edmond Gildig and Larry Gildig, grandchildren, Courtney Blackmon, Cody Blackmon, Heather Gandolfo and Dawson Gildig, sister-in-law, Jackie Stockton. He is preceded in death by wife, Pamela Stockton Gildig and brother, Russell Gildig Jr. Friends will be received Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Harry McKneely & Son Hammond. Services will be held at Harry McKneely & Son Hammond, Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the Wetmore Cemetery Ponchatoula, La. Surviving are her husband, Douglas John Gildig Sr. of Amite; son, Douglas John Gildig Jr. of Albany; daughter, Shannon Marie Gildig Blackman of Greensburg; sister, Jackie Landry Stockton of Ponchatoula; granddaughter, Courtney Leigh Blackman of Amite; two grandsons, Cody Christopher Blackman of Greensburg, and Dawson Bridges Gildig of Albany; granddaughter, Heather Lafaye Gandolfo of Albany; godchild, Chris Timothy Landry of French Settlement; two aunts, Inez Abbott of Waveland, Miss., and Yvonne Ballew of Dallas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Malcolm Joseph Stockton and Ursula Isreal Stockton.
