He was a native of New Orleans. Visiting at Welsh Funeral Home, 6700 Florida Blvd., from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday. Visiting at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m. Saturday. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by his companion, Ruth King; two granddaughters, Dessiree Giler of Nyack, N.Y., and Heather Giler of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and two sons, John Giler and wife Gail of Pomona, N.Y.,and Charles E. Giler of Hammond. Preceded in death by his wife, AnnaBell. He attended Goodwood Baptist Church and the Ethyl Manufacturing Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and worked at a Navy shipyard during World War II. His biggest interests were his wife of 52 years, Anna Bell, and his son, Charles Giler. He and his wife were founding members of the Hammond Developmental Center. He was also extremely devoted to his extended family. ***************************************************************************
