He was born February 6, 1920, in Independence and was a retired carpenter and U.S. Army veteran. Surviving are his son, Joseph Giovingo & wife Linda; daughter-in- law, Virginia Fedele; grandchildren, Lennie & Laurie Giovingo, Frankie & Donna Giovingo, Joseph Giovingo, and Kristy & Alex Gerarve; sister, Ann Danna; and special nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Rose Costa Giovingo; parents, Leonard & Mary Lucido Giovingo; son, Leonard Giovingo, Sr.; brother, Frank Giovingo; 7 sisters, Nellie Gates, Rose Vaccaro, Lea Pendola, Mary Catalano, Jenny Giovingo, Lena Thomas, and Margaret Cuchiara. Visitation will be Monday, August 29, 2011, from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the church beginning at 11:00 am Monday.
