She was born Monday, Aug. 10, 1925, in Abita Springs, daughter of the late Dewey and Irene Bush Bernard. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Milton "Brad" and Debby Gomez Jr.; daughter and son-in-law, Irene and Steve Schafer; five grand- children, Amanda Montalbano, Andy Gomez, Earl Caves, Ben Caves and J.B. Caves; and four great-grandchildren, Caleb Milton, Alexis Gomez, Cade Montalbano and Conor Montalbano. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Bradley Gomez Sr.; two brothers, Nelson and Archie Bernard; two sisters, Elvie and Elsie Bernard. Friends will be received Monday, Oct. 8, at the First Baptist Church of Hammond from 10 a.m. until the religious service at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Andy Gomez, Earl Caves, Ben Caves, J.B. Caves, Chad Montalbano and John Bernard.
