A research chemist with Ethyl Corp., he retired with 35 years service as director of analytical services. A resident of Baton Rouge since 1959 and a native of East Helena, Mont., he died at 4:10 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2005, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. Visiting at St. Thomas More Catholic Church from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Frank Bass, celebrant. Entombment in Rose Memorial Park Cemetery, Hammond. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Stassi Gorsich; mother, Elsie Jones; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Kent Benton; son, David Joseph Gorsich; three grandchildren, Forrest, Heather and Keith Benton; and a brother and sister-in-law, William and Ruth Jones. Pallbearers will be Dan Burke, Quentin Dawson, George Doyle, Charles Hoffman, Chris Igou and David Pearson. Honorary pallbearers are Bob Brumberger, Fred Frey, Julian Honeycutt, Bill Howie, Stephen Igou, Larry Steptoe and Fred Impastato. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society or the American Cancer Society. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the members of Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center.
