DIED: March 29, 1969 - Hammond - Religious services for George M. Gould were held at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Thomas Memorial Chapel in Hammond, conducted by the Rev. J.M. Oswald. The 82-year old resident of Hammond and native of North Dakota died at 10:05 a.m. Saturday at the Seventh Ward General Hospital in Hammond. He was from one of Hammond's pioneer families. Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Thomas Funeral Home of Hammond. Survivors include a son, Gordon Gould of Hammond; one daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Gould Mitchell of Baton Rouge; one sister, Mrs. C.C. "PAW-PAW" A resident of Baker and a native of Hammond, he passed away at 1 p.m. Monday, July 23, 2001, at Lane Memorial Hospital, Zachary. He was 89, born Nov. 29, 1911. He was a former member of First Christian Church of Hammond and a member of Faith Baptist Church in Baker. He lived a full life and was ready to go "home." Mavis, his loving wife of more than 50 years, his parents, George W. and Hattie Lamb Gould, and two sisters, Helen Rae Gould and Gertrude G.M. Valentine, preceded him in death. A daughter, Peggy Rae and her husband, Alfred D. St. Amant III, three grandsons and their families -- Harold and Cheryl d' Aquin Leggett, Travis and Marilyn Leggett and William and Susie Leggett -- survive him. Seven great-grandchildren -- Kristen Leggett, Michelle Leggett, Jessica Leggett, Jarred Leggett, Zachary Leggett, Brendan Leggett and Logan Leggett -- also survive him. He also had three "adopted" great-grandchildren, Miranda Lewis, Jessica Lewis and Madeline Lewis. He had an extended family and friends in Hammond, Angie and Franklinton. Visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, from 10 a.m. until memorial services at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 26, 2001. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Hammond. Pallbearers will be Harold Leggett, Travis Leggett, William Leggett, Jimmy McInnis, Reggie Kennedy and Danny Cibic. She was a native of New Orleans. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Ima V. Sharp of Ponchatoula, and Vera Denise V. Moss of Hammond; five sons, Wallie Ray Vicknair II and Henry Lee Vicknair, both of Pontotoc, Miss., Keith Joseph Vicknair and Troy Jules Vicknair, both of Hammond, and John Timothy Vicknair of Lafayette; one brother, Perry Mercier Sr. of Albany; one sister, Evelyn Ima Tournillion of Carrier, Miss.; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ima Jenkins Mercier; her father, Perry J. "Pete" Mercier; infant twins, Janette Michelle and Jimmie Michael Vicknair; and one sister, Vera Jean Mercier Fischer. Visitation will be Monday at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, from 9 a.m. until the Rev.
