Pat was born Aug. 26, 1945 in New Orleans to the late Henry Burr Harper and Edna Martens Harper. Pat grew up in Hammond, La. and graduated from Hammond High and Southeastern La. College. Upon graduation in 1967, she married her college sweetheart Bryan Gowland and they resided in Abita Springs, LA. Pat retired from the La. Dept. of Social Services in St. Tammany Parish in Covington where she worked for 30 years, serving the people of St. Tammany Parish as a Case Worker, Supervisor and Parish Manager of the Office of Family Support. She was also a member of First Baptist Church in Covington. Beloved wife of Bryan Gowland for 45 years. Loving mother of Jennifer Eden Gowland Scholl (Robert) and Michael Bryan Gowland (Cristine). Grandmother of Faith Scholl, Bryan Maurice and Hannah Gowland. Sister of Barbara Wells (Kenneth), Tommy Harper (Sue) and Reggie Harper (Karin). She was also the sister-in-law of Bradley Gowland (Gail) of Chalmette and Mickey Gowland (Debra) of Baton Rouge, La. and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Service at First Baptist Church, Covington, La. on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013 at 11 a.m. Visitation at the church from 9 a.m. until service time. Private interment services for the family will be held at the Abita Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Pat's memory may be made to the Covington Food Bank or Second Harvest Food Bank.
