She was 66 and a native of Loranger. She was a graduate of Loranger High School and attended Southeastern Louisiana University. She was an avid LSU fan and her passion was LSU football. Even though it showed her age, she proudly told everyone that she remembered the 1958 national football champions. She was just as proud of the 2003 and 2007 BCS champions and was ecstatic when two of her best friends surprised her with tickets to the 2007 championship game. Visiting at Niland Funeral Home, New Roads, on Sunday, Nov. 28, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting continues in the funeral home parlor Monday, Nov. 29, after 9 a.m. until time of religious services at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Larry Fetterolf. Interment in False River Memorial Park, New Roads. Pallbearers will be Brent and Wayne Munson, Brennan Hidalgo, Dennis Cornett Jr., Stuart, David and Blake Olinde and John Lindsly. Honorary pallbearers are Chuck Haynes, Gene Munson, Dennis Cornett Sr., Taylor Morgan and Glynn "Gene" Bergeron. She is survived by a stepdaughter and her husband, Marian and Jessie Mechiel; and many, many great, caring friends who were always there for her, who took wonderful care of her and were her family during her battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Frank "Pop" Graphia; a sister, Jeanette Moran; brother-in-law, Emmett Moran Jr.; mother, Effie D. Cooper; father, Felder Cooper; and mother-in-law, Frances Graphia. Special thanks to Dr. Donald Doucet, who never gave up on her, and his staff; Dr. Jay Brooks, whose compassion you could always feel, and his caring staff; the Ochsner chemo nurses, who always went above and beyond - Lois could not say enough good things about them and how caring and attentive that they were; the Mary Bird Perkins radiation techs, who were wonderful to Lois; and to the nurses of Pointe Coupee Hospice, Warren Pourciau, Lucy Crousillac, Karen Hart, Joann Martin, Christie Worley and Dr. Robert Helm. He was 73 and a retired statewide accounting systems manager with the Louisiana Division of Administration. Arrangements are pending at Niland's Funeral Home, 210 West End Drive, New Roads. Mr. Graphia is survived by his loving wife, Lois Cooper Graphia; his daughter and son-in-law, Marian Graphia Mechiel and Jessie Mechiel of Manassas, Va.; and his mother, Mary Frances Graphia Graziano.
