GROCE, MERLE EMILY WICKBOLDT
Merle Emily Wickboldt Groce, a former resident of Amite, passed away on 
September 29, 2010.  Born 92 years ago on February 23, 1918, Mrs. Groce 
was a native of New Orleans and attended Ursaline Academy.  She was the 
widow of James Cleateus Groce, a noted racehorse trainer.  Her parents were 
Alfred W. Wickboldt and Amelia Hermine Schloff. She was the last surviving 
sibling of brothers Alfred, Arthur, Frank, Robert, and Walter and sisters 
Edna, Ethel, and Grace.  Mrs. Groce is survived by her children James 
Donald (Hilda), Warren (Brenda), Dennis (Becky), David (Janet), Philip 
(Julie), Susan (D'Wayne), and Sharon (Art).  She had several nieces and 
nephews and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Funeral was 
held Sunday, October 3. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your 
favorite charity.
