Born in Independence on Oct. 23, 1951, he was the second son born to Willie Gross Jr. and Alice Gross. Henry attended Genesis United Methodist Church of Fort Worth, under the leadership of Pastor Dr. Jim Conner. Hen's parents trained their children to the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, at the Roberts United Methodist Church. He attended elementary and high school at West Livingston High School. Some of his fondest memories went back to his years at West Livingston and the bonds of friendship that were developed there lasted a lifetime. Upon the completion of high school, he joined the U.S. Army. He met, fell in love and married Patricia Ann Jackson on Feb. 19, 1972. To this union one daughter was born, Andrea L. Hollins, Forth Worth. Henry retired from the U.S. Army as master sergeant (E8), having served faithfully and honorably protecting our nation and preserving our way of life. Visiting at MJR Friendly Service Funeral Home, 7803 Florida Blvd., Denham Springs, on Sunday, Oct. 16, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Religious service at Roberts United Methodist Church, 201 Julia St., Denham Springs, at 11 a.m. Monday, conducted by the Rev. Deborah Williams, pastor. Interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery. To honor his life and legacy, he leaves his cherished and devoted wife of 39 years, Patricia Jackson-Gross; daughter, Andrea and husband Ray Hollins Sr., Fort Worth; two grand- children, Ray A. Hollins Jr., Fort Worth, and James Hollins, Houston; mother, Alice Grayer Gross; two brothers, Sherbert and wife Sandra Gross, and Russell C. Gross, Denham Springs; sister, Sharon and husband Gressey Bryant Jr., Atlanta; sister-in-law, Joyce B. Gross, of Atlanta; goddaughter, Dawn Donahue, Lafayette; a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
