He was a native of Ophahoma, Miss., a teacher and a U.S. Navy veteran of Vietnam. Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Cardinale Groves; daughter, Denise Groves Schroeder; and son, Thomas Edward Groves, all of Baton Rouge; four grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Crawford, Vickie Winter and Marie Babington, all of Pearl River; brother, Herbert Hoover, Lincoln, Neb.; and mother, Edith Hoover, Pearl River. His father, Judge Edward Groves, preceded him in death. Dutch Schanzbach conducted the funeral this afternoon at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, and entombment was in Colonial Mausoleum. STACEY ANTOINETTE A native of New Orleans and a resident of Gonzales, Stacey passed away Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, at age 27. She was active in the National Guard for nine years, having served in Iraq with the 415th Military Intelligence Battalion and was currently serving with the 62nd Civil Support Team. Stacey is survived by her birth mother, Denise Brown; brother, Tracy Walgamotte; and aunt, Danielle Boeker. Our "Baby Girl" also leaves behind the love and support of those she embraced as her Baton Rouge family for the past 14 years, including her "mom," Laurie Murphy; sister, Amanda; niece, Destiny Leger; "mom," Kathy McCutcheon; and best friends, Ryan McCutcheon and Stacey Psaila. She was preceded in death by a special friend, Lee Kessinger. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the religious services from Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, west of Hammond, on Monday, Nov. 8, at 11 a.m. The family requests visiting hours be observed on Sunday, Nov. 7, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and again on Monday from 9 a.m. until the funeral service time. Entombment will follow in Rose Memorial Mausoleum in Hammond with full military honors.
