Michael Edward Guettler Sr., 77 years old of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, passed away, Thursday, April 11, 2013, at his residence. He was born on Tuesday, November 12, 1935, in Ft. Pierce, Flordia, son of the late Leo Guettler and the late Rosalie Kathryn Flynn Guettler. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict as a M.P. Michael worked in the computer industry for over 35 years before retiring from his position as a South East Regional Branch manager for Intergraph. He worked on the Apollo 11 Lunar Mission with NASA. He loved to fish, work in his garden, camp, cook and most of all, he was devoted to his family. He also enjoyed a good milkshake and a chocolate chip cookie. He would go out his way to help someone in need. He will be dearly missed by the ones he left behind. Surviving are wife of over 50 years, Marguerite Elsa Boehm Guettler, son, Michael Jr. and (Patricia), daughter, Lisa Wiersma (Bryan), son, Kevin (Amy), son Patrick (Diana), son, Brian (Tara), 21 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters, Charlie, Pete, Mary Katherine, John, Rose, Bridget, Helen, Lilly, Jean, Alfred, Billy, Walter, Daniel, and May Ann, sister-in-law, Diane Ferguson. He is preceded in death by step mother, Ida McCall Guettler, brother, Leo Guettler Jr. Friends will be received Monday, April 15, 2013 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monday, April 15, 2013 at 11:00 am.
