A resident of Hammond, he died Sunday morning, July 21, 2002, at his home. He was 55, a native of New Orleans and former resident of Amite. He was a lumberman and businessman for more than 30 years and was owner of Conway Guiteau Lumber Co., Amite, and Louisiana Forest Products, Hammond. Visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. Wednesday. Religious service at Holy Ghost Catholic Church at 9 a.m. Wednesday, conducted by a Dominican priest. Interment in Rose Memorial Park. Survived by his wife, Karen Budden Guiteau, Hammond; and a son, Conway Leif Guiteau, Hammond. Preceded in death by his parents, Conway P. Guiteau Sr. and Marjorie Phillipps Guiteau. He loved hunting and fishing, was a National Skeet Shooting champion while in college and a former world champion skeet shooter. He was a member of several hunting and wildlife conservation organizations, including the Tansey Island and Natchez hunting clubs. He previously served as president of the Amite Chapter of Ducks Unlimited and the Florida Parish Skeet and Gun Association. He was a member of the Hammond City Club, Mississippi Lumbermen's Association and Southern Pine Inspection Bureau. He was a supporter and member of several LSU organizations as well as various civic, social and political organizations. *************************************************************************** Obituary published in The Advocate (Baton Rouge) on: 10/28/1999 GUITEAU, CONWAY PAUL SR. A lumberman and businessman for more than 50 years, he died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1999. He was 76, a native of New Orleans and longtime resident of Amite. He was a veteran of World War II in the German theater and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. As a U.S. Army sergeant, he served guard duty over imprisoned Nazi generals at Nuremberg. He is survived by his only son, Conway Guiteau Jr.; daughter-in-law, Karen Budden Guiteau; a grandson, Leif Guiteau; and a sister, Myrle Geeck. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Phillips Guiteau. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday. Religious services at St. Helena Catholic Church, Amite, at 10 a.m. Friday, conducted by the Rev. Jack Nutter. Interment in Amite Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's School, P.O.
