He was a native of Deerford, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of Oakcrest Baptist Church and Piney Woods Exxon Annuity Club and a retired equipment operator at Exxon Co. USA with more than 39 years of service. Survivors include a daughter, Kaye Gurney White, Hammond; two foster daughters, Paula Jean Felder, Baton Rouge, Myrna Davis, Austin, Texas; two sisters, Catherine Gurney Elkins, Central, Eva Gurney Ray, Texas; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. His wife, Ella Mae Dyer Gurney; daughter, Alice Faye Gurney Harvey; two sisters and three brothers, preceded him in death. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, tonight from 5 to 8 and Tuesday from noon until the funeral at 2 p.m. The Rev. Ace McVey will conduct the service, and burial will be in Greenoaks Memorial Park. ***************************************************************************
