He was a native of Marshall, Ark., and retired from Agrico Chemical in Florida. He was a member of Souls Harbor United Pentecostal Church. He is survived by two sons, Daniel Arlin Haggard of Walker and James Donald Haggard of Albany; three daughters, Glenda Burns and Gloria Driggers, both of Walker, and Gladys Gray of Hammond; one sister, Beulah Hawkins of Walker; one brother, Ernest Haggard of Florida; 11 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 13 step-great-grandchildren and three step-great- great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Shelton Haggard; his parents, Jasper and Dellie Haggard; one son, David Edwin Haggard Sr.; and one great-grandchild. Visitation will be today at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, from 5 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. until the Rev. Marvin Poole and the Rev. Ted Burns conduct the funeral at 1 p.m. Burial will be in New Red Oak Cemetery, Livingston. *************************************************************************** Obituary published in The Advocate (Baton Rouge) on: 10/1/2013 HAGGARD, JAMES DONALD Funeral services for Mr. James D. Haggard, 69, will be 10 am Tuesday in the chapel of Seale Funeral Home Denham Springs conducting the service will be Marvin Poole and Paul Toups. Interment will follow at Red Oak Baptist Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday 5pm until 9pm and resume on Tuesday 9am until time of the service. Mr. Haggard was born in Ponchatoula, LA on May 24, 1944 to the union of James A. and Pauline Haggard and departed from this life on Saturday Morning September 28, 2013 at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. He was a resident of Livingston Parish; retired officer with Louisiana DOTD; a member of Souls Harbor Worship Center; he enjoyed gardening, fishing, collecting coins; his passion was his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings Daniel and David Haggard, and Gloria Cline. Survivors include his wife of 49 years Gracie S. Haggard; his children Madonna Toups (Paul), Rhonda Andrews (Mark), and Arlin "Joey" Haggard; siblings Glenda Burns (Robert), and Gladys Gray; grandchildren Tyler, MacKenzie and Mason; great grandchildren Dawson and Dakota; also survived by sister-in-law Judy Haggard; brother- in-law Ronnie Cline; a host of nieces and nephews. He was a wonderful husband, a loving father and grandfather, and was adored by his family that will cherish his memory forever.
