Miss Hallum was born in Tecumseh, Oklahoma, Sept. 9, 1918. In 2006, she moved from Hammond, Louisiana to DeLand, Fla. At the age of 16 she went to Iquitos, Peru, with her parents as a missionary with the Baptist Faith Mission. Her father established the First Baptist Church in all of Peru. She lived and worked in Peru 20 years. Afterwards, she resided in Hammond, La., and was employed first by Tulane Medical School in New Orleans as a Scheduling Administrator, and then worked at Southeastern Louisiana University for 25 years as their Film Librarian. Marguerite lived her life in service to others. Her joy was serving Christ by serving others. She was a member of Woodland Park Baptist Church, Hammond, La., and attended First United Methodist Church of DeLand while residing in Florida. She is survived by two nieces, Patricia Hallum Poynor, Ft. Worth, TX, and Margaret ÔTeeterÕ Hallum Mauldin, DeLand, FL, who has been her caregiver. She was preceded in death by her parents Richard P. Hallum and Mary Frances Clark Hallum, one sister Velda Vivian Hallum, and one brother R. Eugene Hallum. A memorial service will be held at Woodland Park Baptist Church on Monday, June 11, 2012, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery. He was a native of Maud, Okla., a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and retired from Southeastern Louisiana University having served as treasurer and auditor. He was a member and deacon of Woodland Park Baptist Church in Hammond. He is survived by two daughters, Margaret "Teeter" H. Mauldin of Deland, Fla., Patricia H. Poyner of Wheaton, Ill.; one sister, Marguerite Hallum of Hammond; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Mae Poole Hallum; one sister, Velda Hallum; and his parents, Richard Patrick and Mary Clark Hallum. Visitation will be Friday at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 8 until 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Leon Dunn will conduct the funeral Saturday at Woodland Park Baptist Church, Hammond, at 11.
