She was 78 and a native of Hammond. Visiting at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and after 8 a.m. Saturday. Religious services at the funeral home chapel at 10 a.m. Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Shirley Villar and the Rev. Norvie Thornton. Interment in Salem Cemetery, Walker. Survived by four daughters, Lois Clausen, Ponchatoula, Frances Coniglio, Denham Springs, Marie Coniglio, Walker, and Bonnie McLeod, Independence; five sons, James H. Evans, Ponchatoula, Otis Evans, Baton Rouge, Edward Earl Evans, Watson, Russell Bo Sanders, Robert, and Kenneth Sanders, Tickfaw; a sister, Mary Pope, Pineville; 25 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a son, John Ray Evans; and a brother, O.L. Survived by his two sisters, Jackie Smith, Silsbee, Texas, and Lessie Burrell, Evadale, Texas; a son, Phillip Hammers, Kirbyville, Texas; a daughter, Rebecca Hammers, Chalmette; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, David and Amanda Loftin Hammers; and three brothers, Doye Hammers, Ted Hammers and T.T.
