HAMMET, LAWRENCE BUFORD
Lawrence Buford Hammet of Paducah, KY passed away on Sunday January 14,
2007. He was born on August 30, 1925 in Roanoke, VA. He was the son of the
late Glenn Edward Hammet and Katherine Buford Hammet, and brother of the
late Hugh Buford Hammet. He is survived by his wife of fifty-one years,
Lois Nalty Hammet (formerly of Hammond); four children, Katherine Hammet
Zoppoth (Scott Peter Zoppoth) of Louisville, KY, Lawrence Buford Hammet II
(Mary Bentley Jenkins Hammet) of Nashville, TN, David Nalty Hammet
construction company with regional offices in Georgia, Florida and
Louisiana. He was a former director of The Paducah Bank and served on the
Board of Trustees for Brescia College in Owensboro, KY, for twenty-nine
years. He served on the St. Mary High School Education Board and held the
position of Chairman. He was involved in many other civic and philanthropic
organizations. He was a member of the parish of St. Thomas More Catholic
Church in Paducah. A graveside service will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery
in Hammond on Saturday, January 27, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers,
the family requests donations to Brescia College or St. Thomas More
Catholic Church.
