"MOTOR" A retired waiter with Piccadilly Cafeteria and Ralph and Kacoo's Restaurant, he died at 3:15 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2009, at The Care Center from cancer of the liver. He was 71, a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Laurel Hill. Dupas, Alcenia H. Jackson, Jeannie H. Johnson and Bernice D. Robertson, all of Baton Rouge, and Suzie H. Bailey, of St. Francisville; six brothers, James Hampton, of Ponchatoula, Samuel Hampton, of Houston, Charlie Hampton, of New Orleans, Robert and Leonard Hampton, both of St. Francisville, and Jimmie Hampton, of Baton Rouge; a stepbrother, James Smith, of New Orleans; 12 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Hampton Sr. and Georgiana D. Hampton; stepmother, Leona D. Hampton; a brother, Dewey Hampton; paternal grandparents, Peter and Anna Hampton; maternal grandparents, Ginnie Wallace Parker and Andrew Parker; a great-aunt, a great-uncle; two aunts, four uncles; and two stepsisters, Bena Wilkerson and Florence Lacey Lawrence. He attended Old Dawson High School of St. Francisville, was owner of John's Pool Hall and part-owner of AAA Enterprise.
