Frank Hancock Sr., former owner of Hancock's Medical Transportation, died Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, at the age of 55 at his home. He was a native of Indiana and a resident of Chesbrough. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Laura Hancock and David Atkinson and Frankie Hancock and Shelby Brumfield; two sons and daughters-in-law, Frank Jr. and Ruth Hancock and John and Esther Hancock; a daughter at home, Nickie C. Hancock; and 14 grandchildren. Preceded in death by a daughter, Valarie Lynn Hancock; parents, John and Edna Hancock; and a brother, Roger D. Hancock. SR. DIED: April 8, 1970 Amite - Religious services for John M. Hancock, Sr. were scheduled at 11 a.m. today in McKneely Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Joe McClain with burial in Amite Cemetery. He died at 2:45 a.m. Wednesday at his residence in Amite. He was 81 and a native of Ruston. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Katherine Saal Hancock of Amite; one son, J.M. Hancock of New York, N.Y., and one grandchild. *************************************************************************** Obituary published in the Hammond Daily Star on: 10/12/2012 HANCOCK, ROBERT JASON Robert Jason Hancock, 41, of Covington, La., died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012. He was born to the late Leona and Robert Hancock on Aug. 16, 1971, in El Paso, Texas. Robert graduated from Rider High School in 1989. He graduated from Texas A&M with a Bachelor Degree in History and English. He obtained a MasterŐs Degree in School Administration from University of Texas in San Antonio. He graduated with a Doctorate in Educational Computing from University of North Texas in 2005. He married the Love of his Life Laura Wilbourn in 1995 after meeting her on a Catholic Mission Trip. They previously lived in College Station, San Antonio, Little Elm Texas, before moving to Covington, La. Dr. Hancock taught at Rhodes Technology Academy in San Antonio, was Technology Directory at Aubrey ISD, and was Associate Professor of Technology at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond at time of his death. Dr. Hancock was recognized nationally and internationally for his work in instructional technology. Dr. Hancock received the 2007 best research paper award from the International Society of Technology in Education (ISTE) at the National Education Computing Conference for his work on linking technology to achievement. He was named 2007-2008 Educational Technology professor of the Year by Louisiana Computer Using Educators (LaCUE), the Louisiana ISTE affiliate organization. Dr. Hancock was a recipient of multiple grants and contracts that sponsored cutting edge research in emerging technologies, including related to populations with special needs. Most recently, Dr. Hancock and his colleagues at Southeastern Louisiana University developed a summer camp for school-age students on robotics. Young people built robots to complete everyday functions. Robert was an active member of St. PeterŐs Catholic Church in Covington, La., The Kiwanis Club of Hammond, La., and Knights of Columbus in Covington, La. Robert Jason was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents Robbye & Edwin Hancock and Grady Lee & Rosie Lily Hughes, and brother Billy Edwin Hancock. He survived by his wife Laura, daughters Elizabeth and Emily, nephew David Bennett Hancock, godchildren Nathan and Haley Hancock, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association or to the charity of your choice. Wake will be held Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at Brookside Funeral Home in Cypress, Texas.
