He retired from the New Orleans Steamship Association after 30 years of dedicated service. He was a native of Magnolia, Mississippi, lived in New Orleans for more than fifty years and later resided in Parks, Louisiana. He leaves to cherish is memories his wife, Veda Hypolite Harness; five sons; Melvin Harness, Ronald Harness, Ralph (Gayle) Harness, Ricky (Gerry) Harness and Miguel Harris; nine daughters; Annie Mae (Cephus) Forest; Lynette (Arthur) Johnson; Gwendolyn (Russell) Robertson; Rae Coleman, Sherrie Coleman, Katrina Bailey, Regina Harris, Maya Harness and Brion Carey; sisters: Mattie Erving and Alma Selder; 38 grand children, 46 great grand children and 18 great-great grand children; step sons: Frederick Clayton and Elijah Bailey; step daughters: Joyce Ann Spurlock and Mary Lee Clayton and a host of other relatives and friends. Prince was preceded in death by his parents, Esau and Octavia Varnado Harness, two sons, Esau Harness Sr. and Edward Jones; brothers: Charlie, Murry, Leslie, George, and James Harness; sisters: Mary Barr, Helen Holden, Irma Butler, Winnie Burns, Bernadine Murry, Alie Rae East, Ola Mae Brown and Jessie Holden. Rev. Creal James will conduct the funeral service at Tickfaw Missionary Baptist Church, 6339 Bates School Road, Magnolia, Mississippi on June 6th @12:00PM.
