She spent her entire life in Tangipahoa parish, Ebenezer community. WAYCROSS, Ga. - Bishop Larry Harper Sr., 59, died Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at Satilla Regional Medical Center in Waycross after an extended illness. As a senior, he won the intercollegiate championship and a place in the university Hall of Fame. After getting his bachelor of science degree at Southwestern, he received a master's degree at LSU and did further study at the University of Mississippi. Don joined the U.S. Navy Reserve in 1942. He served as a pilot in World War II and was recalled for the Korean War. He retired in 1972 as a captain. In 1948, Don joined the faculty of Southeastern Louisiana University as a teacher in the physical education department, and he served as track coach and dean of men. She was born on Saturday, Sept 7, 1918, in Clio, the daughter of the late Joseph Weiderman and Annie Saltzman Weiderman. She was a homemaker. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Frank Todora; three sons, Merlin, Celvia and Gary Harper; sister, Mary Redmond; three granddaughters and their spouses, Dina and Aaron Kutch, Christie and Marc Williamson and Teresa and Jared Knox; grandson, C.J. Harper; five great-grandsons, a great-granddaughter, 10 stepgrandchildren and 17 stepgreat-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Willard Harper; two daughters, Thera Hutcheson and Ollie Drude; and brother, George J. Weiderman. Friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, on Tuesday, Nov. 20, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday in the funeral home chapel from 8 a.m. until service at 11 a.m., with the Rev.
