He was born in Ponchatoula on Friday, April 10, 1925, son of Washington Napoleon Harper and Easter Joiner Harper. He was a retired electronics repairman. Mr. Harper was a radarman second class and a member of the FIfth Fleet, which landed in Tokyo Bay and with which he covered 11 battles with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was present at the signing of the peace treaty aboard the USS San Diego. Survivors include three sons, Ronald C., Richard K. and Paul B. Harper; four daughters, Jackie H. Richardson, Tammy H. Cason, Melanie H. Monistere and Cherie Harper; a brother, Hardy Harper; a sister, Irene H. Knapps; 24 grand- children and 16 great-grandchildren.
