He was 50, born Sunday, Feb. 6, 1955, in Alexandria. Mr. Hataway worked in the telecommunications industry for 30 years and was the owner of Bri-Tel Systems. He was an employee of the Natalbany Fire Department for 18 years, was an avid dog lover and a devoted loving father of his three children. Surviving are his two daughters, Leslie Canale of Covington and Lindsey Hataway of Tickfaw; son, Preston Corey Hataway of Covington; father, James Edward Hataway of River Ridge; mother, Dawn Webster Hataway of River Ridge; sister, Haviland Hataway of Marrero; and grandson, Preston Michael Canale of Covington. Friends will be received on Saturday, Oct. 15, at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from 8 a.m. until service at 11 a.m., the Rev. Survivors include his father, Harry R. Hataway; mother, Cleo Hataway; two brothers, Larry Hataway, all of Many, and Clayton M. Hataway, Cumberland City, Tenn.; and a sister, Karren K. Perry, New Orleans. Visitation will be at Warren Meadows Funeral Home, Many, tonight at 6. The Rev. Charles Crews will conduct the funeral Wednesday at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, and burial will be in Ft. Many - Harry Ray Hataway Sr., 78, died Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, at Many Health Care North. A native of Parsons, Kan., he was a graduate of Phillips University and retired as chaplain in the U.S. Army as a lieutenant colonel. He served with the 70th Infantry in the European Theater in World War II, with the 45th in Korea and the 1st Infantry Division in Vietnam. He served as a minister at the First Christian churches both in Crowley and Hammond. He retired from the ministry in 1987. He is survived by his wife, Cleo Hataway of Many; two sons, Clayton M. Hataway of Erin, Tenn., and Larry Hataway of Many; one daughter, Karren K. Perry of New Orleans; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in in death by his father, Clayton Walter Hataway; his mother, Helena Adella Mackey Hataway; and one son, Harry R.
