He was 83, born Aug. 21, 1924, in Smackover, Ark., and a U.S. Army veteran. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting resumes Wednesday from 8 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Jerry Barber, the Rev. J.D. Hunt and the Rev. Michael Bassemier. Interment in Amite Memorial Gardens, Amite. He is survived by his wife, Jessie Lofton Hatfield, Amite; two daughters, Linda Marie Bassemier, Amite, and Kathy Hatfield, Watson; three sons, Robert Lewis Hatfield, Denham Springs, Edgar Dee Hatfield, Tickfaw, and Ricky E. Hatfield, Amite; nine grandchildren; 15 great- grandchildren; a sister, Jo Ann Bassinger, Ringgold; and two brothers, Paul Daniel Hatfield, Winnsboro, and Bobby Ray Hatfield, Poplarville, Miss.
