HELM, MELLIE LEONA MARTINEZ
Springfield - Mellie Leona Martinez Helm, 75, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000,
at North Oaks Medical Center. She was a native of Springfield, was retired
from Rheem Manufacturing, New Orleans, and was a member of St. Thomas
Catholic Church, American Legion Auxiliary Post 258, Amvets Auxiliary Post
68 and Pineview Homemakers Club. Survivors include two sisters, Sallie
Martin and Eva Monnerjahn, Springfield; two brothers, Leslie Martinez,
Springfield, Donald Martinez, Albany. Her husband, Richard Helm; two
sisters, Helen Poche and Eugenia Rigby; and a brother, Toney Martinez Jr.,
preceded her in death. Visitation will be at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral
Home, Ponchatoula, tonight from 6 to 10 and Tuesday from 8 until 9:30 a.m.
The funeral will be held at St. Thomas Catholic Church at 10 a.m., and
burial will be in Springfield Cemetery.
